Flying Tips

Things that make flying a little easier...

bulletAlways remember to keep your parachutes UN-FOLDED until you are ready to fly. This will help them unfurl more readily and seek that ever important memory, especially during winter months when it's colder. And, for you folks that like Mylar and Plastic chutes, a little talc or baby powder should always be used before and after each flight.
bulletKeep motors in a cool dry place sealed from the elements. Humid conditions can make the clay nozzles swell and expand making proper motor installation difficult. Even motors sold in stores can experience this depending on conditions and age of product.
bulletMake a check list to keep in the area that you store all of your rocketry items. For me, it's in my basement near my hobby bench. design the checklist around all of the items and tasks that should be done the night before, and the day of a launch. Things like checking batteries, motor inventory, proper igniters, and even sun tan lotion are the last things on our mind until it's too late. A simple check list will help eliminate all the anxiety of "What If"!
bulletEver have a 24mm motor equipped rocket that you would like to convert to an 18mm flight? This can be easily done with some simple tools. Simply take an expended 24mm motor and clean out the nozzle area. Dry fit the new 18mm motor into the old expended 24mm case. Use tape to friction fit if necessary and presto, you have a simple field conversion kit.
